Holiday Stollen - available for pickup 12/23 and 12/24 only!
First baked at the Council of Trent in 1545, traditional Stollen is a dense, buttery, fruit and nut-packed holiday bread worthy of its storied history. Spiced dough studded with Deacon Giles rum-soaked raisins and candied orange peel envelopes a log of frangipane. The loaf is baked, dunked in clarified butter, and the rolled vanilla-bean sugar - and THEN rested and dusted with coats of powdered sugar over the course of 3 days, creating a crackly sweet crust.
INGREDIENTS: Wheat flour, butter, golden raisins, cherries, sliced almonds, organic eggs, sugar, almond meal, water, milk, rum, yeast, sea salt, orange zest, almond extract, spices, vanilla bean * contains nuts*
