This is a Venezuelan sweet bun filled with an anise brown sugar filling, a hint of cinnamon, and queso fresco both inside and on top. The bun is brushed with panela or raw cane sugar for added sweetness, moisture, and a bit of a molasses flavor.   Sweet, aromatic, and a bit savory.  Note: if not consuming the same day please refrigerate.

Ingredients: Wheat flour, sugar, honey, milk, eggs, brown sugar, anise seed, cinnamon, vanilla extract, raw can sugar (panela), and queso fresco.
